The entire Band meets monthly in Silicon Valley and San Francisco to formally consider 3 startups selected from among the 50+ that are screened each month by the Band deal selection process. Additionally, to facilitate deal flow and engagement from Southern California to Northern California, we hold a satellite meeting in Los Angeles for members and companies located there. During the Covid-19 pandemic we continue to meet regularly via online/virtual web meetings.

Mr. Ren is the Founder and Chairman of LY Electronics USA, Inc. (also Chairman of Global XLR), represents several leading manufacturers, and offers factory direct pricing. The company’s mission is to help overseas, and US manufacturers directly face global buyers and provide the best quality products at the most reasonable price.
Tom Ren founded AECsoft USA in 1999, founded AEC Global (Shanghai) in 2007 and served as Chairman and CTO for both companies until January 2011 when the companies were acquired by a NASDAQ-listed e-procurement software company. Mr. Ren spearheaded the creation of AEC’s flagship products including the Total Supplier Management System, Supplier Diversity Management System, eSourcing System and Supplier Contract Management System. These software products have been licensed to hundreds of Fortune 1000 companies and government agencies to automate their supplier management and sourcing processes. In October of 2010, Gartner Group ranked AECsoft’s Supplier Management System as the highest scored supplier information management system in the entire world.
Mr. Ren has dual Master’s Degrees in Physics and Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston. Prior to that, he attended Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Nanjing University in China. Tom has several inventions and a US patent and received the US Pan Asian Chamber of Commerce/Wells Fargo “Asian Business Leadership Award” in 2005.

Jason Hu
Jason Hu joined LY Electronics in 2020 and serves as the Director of Innovation. He is an expert on magnetic resonance imaging and is familiar with various programming technology stacks.
In addition, he invests in early-stage companies and helps clients with business development. Jason graduated from Duke University in 2011 (B.S.E., Biomedical Engineering) and Rice University in 2017 (Ph.D., Bioengineering).
